Donor Guide
At APOYO, we recognize the important role that food and nutrition play in the health of our community. It is important to offer options reflective of our families’ cultural preferences and dietary needs to provide nutritious food that families enjoy eating together. APOYO is grateful for donations of healthy, ethnically-sensitive food from individuals and businesses. If you would like to donate, please review this donor guide and contact us in advance to make arrangements. Continue reading below to learn about our Food and Nutrition Policy.
Food and Nutrition Policy
At APOYO, connection to community and cultural competence are at the heart of our work to support our members’ nutritional needs and health. In addition to breaking down barriers to food access, we are committed to offering our members food choices that enable positive health outcomes, help prevent diet-related chronic illnesses, and honor their cultural needs and dietary preferences. Communities we serve experience food apartheid due to a history of intentional, oppressive practices and disinvestment that make it more difficult to access healthy food.
Our Food and Nutrition Policy demonstrates our commitment to the quality of food we offer and sets our guiding principles for food acquisition and donation preferences.
