Food Donation
Around the world, the supply of healthy food is diminishing. Why? Factors from climate change (drought and flooding, for example) to disease, war, and supply chain disruptions have had a cumulative impact on global food supply. APOYO’s food suppliers are impacted by these problems, too. While we receive funding to buy food, we also want to help build a local food security network.
Here are some ways you can help:
- Hook us up with local farmers and food producers so we can keep our purchases local.
- If you have a garden, donate a surplus we can offer at our food pantry or even cultivate food donations. For more on this, see our Food and Nutrition page.
- Sponsor our APOYO Local Growers project to support an APOYO farming apprentice who will learn to farm and grow food for APOYO. If you want to know more about becoming a farming apprentice or are a landowner interested in offering your land for cultivation, please contact us.
- Have other ideas about working with APOYO to help build local food security? We want to know about them!

In 2024 we are introducing:
- APOYO Soccer League is an Adult Soccer League to encourage physical activity and sportsmanship in our Ellensburg neighbors.
- Fiesta Latina 2023 is APOYO’s annual fundraiser to celebrate Latinx communities and raise funds for a Community Outreach Center. If you are interested in participating in Fiesta Latina 2024, contact us!
- The Community Outreach Center would provide APOYO with the essential space to fully support the communities we serve.

Have Fun
Working at APOYO is just plain fun. You can feel good helping our friends and neighbors, meet other wonderful people, and work under the supervision of folks who genuinely need and appreciate everything you do! APOYO clients and volunteers collaborate with other community organizations. In 2020, we began working with CWU Sustainability and the Wildcat Neighborhood Farm to grow a community garden. Join us as a volunteer to connect, grow and learn.
Practice Your Spanish
Many of our clients speak Spanish. If you would like to get to know their language and learn about their cultures, just stick around. It’s like study abroad without an airline ticket.
