How to Help

Financial Donation

It’s quick and easy to donate to APOYO. We appreciate any gift you can give. Please consider making a recurring monthly donation. You can mail your donation to P.O. Box 194, Ellensburg, WA 98926.

Food Donation

APOYO’s food supply has been greatly reduced. Why? Factors from climate change (drought and flooding, for example) to war and international relations to supply chain disruptions and disease have had a cumulative impact on the food supply globally. APOYO’s food suppliers are impacted by these problems, too.

Here are some ways you can help:

  • Donate food. Please call 509-201-2810 or email apoyocommunity@gmail.com to learn how. To learn about culturally-relevant foods, see our Food and Nutrition page.
  • If you have garden surplus, we’d be happy to offer it at our food pantry.
  • Cash donations are also welcome. When you use the PayPal donate feature, choose “APOYO’s Work” at “Use this donation for.”
  • Sponsor our APOYO Local Growers project to support an APOYO farming apprentice who will learn to farm and grow food for APOYO. Please see our APOYO Local Growers page. If you’re interested in becoming a farming apprentice yourself, contact us for an application.

Volunteer

Volunteers are the heart of our organization. Whether from the university or the community, our volunteers affect a positive change in the lives of those we serve.

Helping others can also count towards community service hours so please feel free to visit the FAQ for more information.

You may fill out our online volunteer form in English or Spanish.

Have Fun

Working at APOYO is just plain fun. You can feel good helping our friends and neighbors, meet other wonderful people, and work under the supervision of folks who genuinely need and appreciate everything you do! APOYO clients and volunteers collaborate with other community organizations. In 2020, we began working with CWU Sustainability and the Wildcat Neighborhood Farm to grow a community garden. Join us as a volunteer to connect, grow and learn.

Practice Your Spanish

Many of our clients speak Spanish. If you would like to get to know their language and learn about their cultures, just stick around. It’s like study abroad without the airline ticket.
