We Serve a Diverse Community

APOYO serves an ethnic minority community whose members may not trust other agencies because they fear deportation or because they just don’t know how such agencies work. We’ve spent the more than 25 years earning their trust, and we have succeeded because we understand not just their experiences, but their language and their cultures.

We Serve Everyone, Without Limits

We receive all the food we need to share. We don’t turn anyone away.

We’re a Different Kind of Charity

Our clients are members, volunteers, friends and neighbors. At APOYO, we all contribute to building a community dedicated to helping each other.

Volunteer

Volunteers are the heart of our organization. Whether from the university or the community, our volunteers affect a positive change in the lives of those we serve. Helping others can also count towards community service hours so please feel free to contact us for more information.

Have Fun

Working at APOYO is just plain fun. You can feel good helping our friends and neighbors, meet other wonderful people, and work under the supervision of folks who genuinely need and appreciate everything you do! APOYO clients and volunteers collaborate with other community organizations. In 2020, we began working with CWU Sustainability and the Wildcat Neighborhood Farm to grow a community garden. Join us as a volunteer to connect, grow and learn.

Practice Your Spanish

Many of our clients speak Spanish. If you would like to get to know their language and learn about their cultures, just stick around. It’s like study abroad without the airline ticket.

Get Community Service Hours

If you need community service hours, we welcome your help! Stop by during one of our distributions, bring your paperwork, and get signed in. We can offer about six hours a week, during regular distributions, or if you need more, we can arrange it. We always need help.
